Lackawanna State Park - 52 mountain bike trails and 51 hiking trails. Nice return to the northeast.
Lovely, shaded and colder than expected, but then again, it's Autumn and I am back in the north. After getting my sista back to West Virginia where the temps were still in the 80s I was surprised by the colder temps here in PA. As many of you know, I am a person who loves heat and humidity. This wonderful combination makes my muscles feel oh so good - at ease. Why, then do I live in Maine. . .? Well, aside from the absolute beauty of the State I call home, I also like the snow - go figure. Maine suits me. A little bit of everything - weather-wise. That said, I will miss the high temps and sunny weather we enjoyed during the past 3 months.
I've been camping solo for six days now and must say that I love it. I enjoyed the company of others while traveling, but there is a definite feeling on contentment I have when I find solitude. I found it this week hiking and mountain biking the numerous trails here at Lackawanna. I have to admit that I cannot bike the trails as I once did. Rocks and tree stumps that before were then hurdled over are now cautiously moved through - sometimes even walked over. . . and hey, I felt great just being out there.
I've also spent a lot of time walking the lakeside, stopping to read or just laying on the grass or dock to soak in the sunshine and fresh air.
Yesterday I met two groups of people in nearby campsites. Lovely, funny and incredibly interesting people who invited me to sit at their campfire. A great way to spend an evening.
