Sunday July 24 - Tuesday July 26

So we had a fabulous and long day at Letchworth and needed to find a place to stay…not so easy these days finding a campground that has space and is NOT an amusement park…so many of the private campgrounds are teeming with ATVs, fireworks, and loud people. Hey, I’m not saying this is a bad thing in general and at some point in my life I would have really enjoyed it but this is NOT what I/we want at this point in time.
That said, we lucked out when we drove into the town of Olean, NY and found the Riverhurst Park Campground.
Fabulous…drive in and was greeted by Sue who showed us to our site right on the Allegheny river! Upon arrival, we were awed at the site of a bald eagle sitting in a tall, dead tree just across from our site as well as a beaver busily doing its work just downstream from us. First night we encountered a stormy (torrential rain with thunderstorms) night which was glorious for me and Jodie (in the tent) but far from that for Ginge and Holly who is terrified by thunder which lasted well into the night. Poor them.
We enjoyed the campground so much we decided to stay another night. (Thankfully it was mid week and they had availability!) Relaxation, sun, food, and a golf cart to ride the mile of river (thank you Lonnie -owner - for your generosity).

Night fell to the sound of a loud bird soaring up and down river all night! Jodie and I pondered many different birds based on the sound but discovered from our host, Lonnie that it was in fact a screech owl 🦉…Wow!

RV with full hookup - electric, water & sewer!

Left Tuesday to drive through the Allegheny National Forest.
