South Dakota with the exception of Mount Rushmore and Sitting Bull have the same look as North Dakota...lots of wheat and prairie land (vast - go on for as long as my eyes could see).

South Dakota is the seventeenth largest by area, but the 5th least populous, and the 5th least densely populated of the 50 United States.

We stayed at a lovely State Park/Wildlife Refuge called Belle Fourche. Campsite right on the reservoir. It was 104 degrees when we arrived. Temps cooled a bit as a delightful storm came in shortly after arriving. A lightning storm to the east (over the water) that was truly delightful! Unfortunately, Holly didn't think so. She's terrified of thunder - or anything loud for that matter.

Photo above is before the storm.

Jodie asked that I poke Jefferson in the eye for how he treated the slaves so here goes…

Amphitheater-light shows and music…not while we were there.

Mount Rushmore is a National Monument. I went into the gift center and could not find any items that were made in the 🇺🇸 Something wrong with that.

We left Rushmore and headed west into Wyoming driving through NOTHING but brown prairie land for hours.
