Ginge, Holly and I left the cliffy side of Lake Michigan on Tuesday and drove almost 7 hours. Longer than we've been logging, but we wanted to get closer to Wisconsin so we switched off driving and made it to the sandy beaches of the west side of this humongous body of fresh water.

The drive was lovely as about 3.5 hours was directly abutting sandy beaches. Remarkable because one could just pull over at almost any point and walk onto a sandy beach!

I guess that my research for campgrounds - as we go, not scheduled but a day prior to arrival - has paid off. To date we've landed amazing sites (for the most part). This State of Michigan campground, called JW Wells State Park (another Civilian Conservation Campground) is, like the others we've stayed at, designed beautifully and very well maintained.

We had a reservation for one night and before we even parked the RV - I made my way down to the office and asked if we could stay an additional 4 nights. To our amazement, they had availability so here we sit. Set up with tent, screened in cover over the picnic table and the RV - ALL backed into a spot that is literally 20 feet from the Lake. Simply beautiful.

We've met great people and had really nice trail walks. We're so delighted to be able to stay put and 'make camp' for a series of days.

Im laying on the air mattress writing this entry while feeling the sun and lake breeze AND taking in the site of the Lake just feet away. It does NOT get any better than this ...

Ginger just delivered a grilled cheese to the tent. REALLY? She’s amazing…and surprisingly (to me) an incredible cook!

Feeling blessed and so grateful.
